A lot of bloggers have been sharing their Mom-makeup secrets and products. And well, I'm a lemming, let's get that out there right now, so I'm doing it too. Without further ado, here are a few of my favorite things:
I love makeup. I would say a new lipstick color is more tempting to me than a new, fashionable blouse. Maybe because lipstick is usually cheaper, and maybe because I secretly know I won't wear anything too out of my comfort zone clothes-wise.
I am also a big snob when it comes to lipstick. I hate sticky anything. Lipgloss just doesn't do it for me. I will suffer through it at times. But mostly I am a lipstick girl. A quality lipstick girl. My favorite brand is MAC. Told you, snob. It's just so smooth. The colors are great. It lasts a good long while. And I just love it. At $15 a stick, it's not the most expensive, but it's not the cheapest either. I have had a "signature" color for about...eh...many years (more than 8, not kidding), that I buy as soon as I run out. I will try a new color every so often and I've found a couple others that I love that way. I've also found a couple that are not my thing. It's a process.
Let me introduce to you to my tried & true, mi amore:
Pretty Please (MAC) |
It goes on light. It's got balanced coverage without looking like I just slabbed on a ton of lipstick. And it feels amazing. It's perfect for everyday. It's also perfect for when I want to do a dramatic eye, I need an understated lip color: this is it. But I also love it when I'm just wearing mascara. Versatile.
My other fav from MAC is this beauty:
Angel (MAC) |
And because I am an equal opportunity lipstick lover, I am adding a less expensive ($4.99) option I use:
Primrose (Revlon) |
This is a new buy for me, but I do really like it. It's a bit more obvious on me than the other two, but not so much so that I wouldn't wear it while running errands. It goes on smooth and price is unbeatable.
Welp! There you are. My three go-to lip colors. Now go forth and be lipsticked.
I've never been a lipstick wearer, not even on my wedding day! I never know what color to pick and I always feel like I look like a clown. Maybe one of these days I will work up the guts to wear lipstick!
ReplyDeleteI feel instantly put together when I put on lipstick.
DeleteTry a color close to the same as your natural lip color to get used to wearing lipstick. I almost never venture out of my comfort zone of PINK! But once you find what you like, it's fun to try other colors.
